ABOUT US

Kootingal APDA Physie & Dance

We are Kootingal's first and only dance studio that is offering classes with the APDA Physie and Dance Syllabus. The club was opened by Kiara Northey in 2018 with a vision to create a welcoming space for children to do what they love... DANCE.

What is APDA Physie & Dance?

APDA (Australia Physie and Dance Association) is a fusion of Physie and the art of Dance. Each year our members learn 4-6 choreographed routines which have their own skill-set and focus on musicality, technique, performance, flexibility, cardio and strength. All the routines have been choreographed by qualified and professional choreographers to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all members.

Each routine is a different dance style. This means you can have up to 5 dance styles in just one affordable class including  Ballet, Jazz, Physie, Lyrical, and Contemporary.

What are the benefits of doing APDA Physie & Dance?

There are many positive benefits on the body including increasing flexibility, fitness, coordination and learning correct posture. It also helps all members to improve their self-confidence and their social wellbeing. At Physie every one makes many life long friends, and we have an encouraging environment that makes all members feel valued. We are a second family. We are your Physie & Dance Family.

KIARA

I started physie at the age of 8 and has loved it ever since. I opened Kootingal APDA in 2018 to ensure that children are encouraged to achieve their best always in a positive environment. In my physie career, I have been a part of many winning and placing teams as well as achieving individual zone champion 3 times and receiving a place within the zone top 5 another 7 times.  I have been a national finalist 8 times and have also received a national 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 3x 6th places. I love to teach and watch the children achieve their very best and improve each class. Outside of physie I am a mum to 2 beautiful children and I have my diploma in Early Childhood and Care and work in a local childcare centre.

TAYLAH

I began physie at the age of 10 and quickly found my passion for dance. I have been club age champion multiple times as well as Club Senior Champion in 2021. I have picked up many team and individual interclub placings through the years. I was also awarded the National Champion title of the Division 2 Open Ladie section in 2024. I started teaching in 2019 at Kootingal APDA and I now teach across all age groups. I love teaching so much that I am currently studying Primary Teaching at university.
